Fast and reliable WiFi Internet access is provided free of charge by The UK Supreme Court / Judicial Committee of the Privy Council (UKSC / JCPC) to its staff, court users and guests. Please note that certain criteria have to be observed in order for you to be classified as a Court user or guest of the UKSC / JCPC.This WiFi Internet service is provided for use strictly within the UKSC / JCPC building located at Parliament Square, London SW1P 3BDBy using this service you agree to abide by the terms and conditions set out below. If you do not agree, please refrain from using this service. If you have any questions please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help. Any information you provide to us will be governed by our privacy policy. We may use information from your usage of the WiFi provision for improvement and service monitoring purposes.The important terms and conditions that must be adhered to by the user are as follows:
- Responsible use of the Wi-Fi Provision – use of this service must in a responsible manner and in line with the following terms and conditions:
- Do NOT use the WiFi Internet provision to send, forward or encourage the sending of spam emails
- Do NOT pretend to be someone you are not while using the UKSC / JCPC Wi-Fi Internet services
- Do NOT collect other peoples personal details or emails addresses without their permission
- Do NOT participate in or encourage acts that may be deemed as threatening, harassing, sexist, racist, obscene, abusive, defamatory, inappropriate, objectionable or offensive
- Do NOT download or view any pornographic, illegal images or other offensive material
- Lawful use of the WiFi provision – it is forbidden to use or encourage the unlawful use of the Wi-Fi Internet services provided by the UKSC / JCPC. Such unlawful use includes but is not restricted to:
- Revealing of sensitive or confidential information.
- Participating in or encouraging others to take part in any form of criminal activities.
- The infringement or encouraging the infringement of intellectual property rights.
- Violating the laws of the UK, international law or the legal rights of any 3rd party.
- Reasonable use of the WiFi provision – Be considerate while using the WiFi Internet. Do NOT use the service in such a way that it affects the efficiency, security or integrity of the network as a whole or impacts adversely on any other user. Such unreasonable use includes, but is not restricted to, the unnecessary uploading or downloading of very large files and failing to ensure your device is protected by up to date Internet security software.
Other conditions to be considered prior and during the use of the UKSC / JCPC WiFi Internet services are as follows:The Internet is a global electronic network and the UKSC / JCPC is NOT responsible for the legality, validity, accuracy or usefulness of the information found on the Internet while connected to the Internet via this service.The UKSC / JCPC is also not responsible for any viruses or any other harmful software that may be encountered while connected to this service.Although the UKSC / JCPC aims to have this service always available to Court users, sometimes for technical, operational and / or legal reasons the service may NOT be available.Your use of the WiFi Internet service is at your own risk and the UKSC / JCPC is not responsible to you for costs or expenses, damages, losses and / or mishaps suffered while connected to the service or if the service does NOT function as expected or the service is suddenly NOT available or otherwise. This includes loss or damage of any data.The UKSC / JCPC reserves the right to control the types of data sent or received using the provided service.Service can be suspended at anytime, at the sole discretion of the UKSC / JCPC, and with no liability to you the user.If the UKSC / JCPC receives any lawful claim or request for information about your use of this Internet service, we may be obliged to disclose certain information such as the Internet Protocol (IP) address assigned to your system at the time of use.
In the event of breach, by the user, of any of these terms and conditions of use: You are responsible to the UKSC / JCPC for any damages, losses and cost / expenses incurred as a result of any breach by you, such as using the service to view or download pornographic images or the violation of any copyright laws. The UKSC / JCPC reserves the right to terminate, deny, suspend and prevent service provision to users found to be in breach of any of these rules. IF YOU ARE UNSURE IF YOUR USE OR PROPOSED USE OF THE SERVICE VIOLATES ANY OF THE RULES ABOVE, PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE SERVICE AND SPEAK TO THE UKSC / INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT OR A MEMBER OF STAFF
