UK Supreme Court publishes its new Judicial Diversity & Inclusion Strategy 2026-2030
The UK Supreme Court has launched its new Judicial Diversity & Inclusion Strategy 2026-2030, building on the success of the Court’s first strategy, published in 2021.
The strategy outlines how the UK’s apex Court is working to improve diversity both within the organisation and in the wider legal sphere. The annual updates published since 2021 demonstrate the Court’s goals and how it has achieved them, through internal initiatives and by partnering with external organisations. Key achievements include the launch and development of the Bridging the Bar internship, career webinars, and partnerships with professional associations such as the Sikhs in Law Association.
The new strategy covers the next four years, and includes the Court’s objectives, how it will deliver them, and how success will be measured.
In his foreword to the strategy, the Court’s President Lord Reed says:
“Progress is being made, but I know there is much more to do to remove barriers and to increase the pace of change. I look forward to the Court working together with many others to bring about a future where there is equal opportunity for all talented individuals to flourish in the judiciary, and in the wider legal profession.”
