Bilateral visit between the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom and the Conseil d’État

Justices of the Supreme Court travelled to Paris to attend judicial discussions with judges from the Conseil d’État.

Earlier this month, Justices of the UK Supreme Court took part in a bilateral exchange with the Conseil d’État, hosted in Paris.

The UKSC delegation comprised:

  • Lord Reed, President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
    • Lord Hamblen, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
      • Lord Leggatt, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom
        • Lady Rose, Justice of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom

          The Conseil d’État delegation comprised: 

          • Didier-Rolan Tabuteau, Chief Justice
            • Rémy Schwartz, President of the Section for Studies, Prospective and Cooperation
              • Alain Seban, State councillor, President of the 2nd Litigation Chamber
                • Terry Olson, State councillor, rapporteur for the Public Works Section
                  • Yves Gounin, State councillor, Delegate for international relations
                    • Rozen Noguellou, State councillor, Judge in the 10th Litigation Chamber

                      Discussions focused on asylum law, the ECHR in France and the UK, and digital rights and the protection of personal data.

                      This bilateral event was part of a long–lasting dialogue between the Supreme Court and the Conseil d'Ètat, exemplifying a shared conviction that cooperation between our two justice systems remains beneficial and necessary.
